Farrow & Ball Launch 18 New Colors

Farrow & Ball Paint has just introduced 18 new paint colors in their line. I like the Farrow & Ball Paint range because it is complete yet concise. The specification of the product is very clear without too many different finishes or too large a product range to make it confusing. To use, it is just superb, like brushing silk onto the walls. The depth of colour can only be compared to silk, a fibre with a great capacity for pigment.

The product is premixed ensuring good colour matching. Every Farrow & Ball Paint colour is perfect. It is the exact shade or tint that works for a particular colour. The depth of colour and finish is way above all other paints. Every colour is a winner.

I also love the names of the colours; no other product allows you to specify ‘Drab’ and have the result be fabulous! I am especially happy to see the bottom 3 new Farrow & Ball colors: Pelt, Tanners Brown & Pitch Black and can hardly wait to try them. Wimborne White and Skimming Stone will definitely be on my list of new whites to try. I have paired some of these Farrow & Ball colors to pictures that I think might closely approximate the new paint colours in their line, so you can see how they might work in a room setting. Paint is a wonderful avenue for decorating. I always tell my clients that one colour doesn't cost anymore than another, but it can make all the difference in the world.

In rooms like the ones above I would use Farrow & Ball Paint No. 239 Wimborne White to bring out the detail in an all white space.

Farrow & Ball Paint No.254 Pelt - A rich plum-brown, would be an elegant and very current choice for this room.

Farrow & Ball Paint No. 264 Cinder Rose for this room - "a fresh mauve colour" with perhaps just a little more pink in it than this picture.

Farrow & Ball Paint No.253 Drawing Room Blue - A traditional ‘salon’ blue, this colour’s clean hue is reminiscent of the pigment Cobalt,
used by artists and discerning decorators ever since its discovery in the 19th century.

Farrow & Ball Paint No.248 Incarnadine - A rich, crimson red, similar to the red gloss paint used by the late David Hicks
at Baron’s Court in the 1970s.

Farrow & Ball Paint No.240 Cat's Paw - A stylish, yellow-based neutral colour which has an especially soft tone.

Farrow & Ball Paint No.251 Curlish Green - A yellow-green colour has been used decoratively for centuries,
both on its own and as a ground beneath patterned wallpapers

Farrow & Ball Paint No.245 Middleton Pink - A very delicate and near-translucent traditional
pale pink which is pretty without being too sugary.

Farrow & Ball Paint No.255 Tanner's Brown - A dark, earthy brown, considered one of the most timeless of decorative tones.

Creative Headboard.

I love this headboard via Living Etc. and House Martin. It is actually constructed from hollow core doors, that were finished as a contemporary art piece. Such a simple idea that makes a huge impact. What if there were shelves behind the bed, and the doors were hung as sliding doors?

Houston Guide on Design Sponge

I'm very excited about the Houston Guide on Design Sponge...written by yours truly. Finally, I could put all my shopping knowledge to good use :) I would also like to say thanks to Courtney for helping with the Heights' restaurants. My Dream Home, This Week: The Ultimate Dream!

I am so excited about this post, I could barely wait for Monday to arrive! Every week I write about dream homes; but this house would be the ultimate dream for me. This is the home of my design hero, Vicente Wolf. I have long admired this renovated loft that has been featured in an endless amount of books and magazines. The reason I am including Vicente's home now is because while reading Joni's blog, I discovered that it is now for sale! What?!! In some ways, the idea of it being for sale makes me sad, because I hate to think of someone changing it. Although, I have been dreaming about being able to buy it all weekend. (Yeah, right!)

I love Vicente's style so much, because it is the ultimate in "Eclectic". His ability to combine so many materials and and styles, is amazing. For example, in the bedroom the nightstands are two small tables of two very different periods. This is a classic Wolf technique. The look is so dynamic and yet, never outlandish or in your face. Joni pointed out another Wolf detail, which is the over-sized mirror. He uses large mirrors very regularly, because they give rooms a lot of breathing room.
Oh, I am so excited to post this house, because it really is such an inspiration to me. And, it can be all mine for a mere $5,400,000.00...woohoo!

Flickr Home

Here is a little gem I found while searching through Flickr. Its fascinating to see such personal spaces through the eyes of their owners. This set of photos is from Paper Pony. Such a darling house. I love the vintage chair and fan. I have always wanted a vintage fan because I love the whirring sound they make. When I was a kid, I knew someone who had several fans like this, and I always found the sound so soothing. Although, these fans are not very easy to find.


I would love to curl up with a good book and an iced latte, in this house. The pastel colors are so inviting. I found this photographer has a blog also called Paper Pony.

What Could be Better?

Than the combination of David Byrne and Texas. There aren't many things I love more. After feeling crappy all day, this was a great surprise.
