Love This Music!

I'm really loving Tristan Prettyman. Her voice is so cool and so are her songs. Madly, is the first single off her new album. Check out the house in the video...very cute. My FAVORITE song is "Hello". One of my secret dreams has always been to be a singer. Tristan's voice is exactly what I always wanted to sound like. The song doesn't have a video, so I attached a playlist. It looks hideous, I know; but I'm still trying to figure it out. I've seen other blogs that add individual songs to each post, and they look much better than this. I just don't know how to do that...sorry. Somebody give me some pointers!!! I am adding the playlist to my sidebar, but it won't play automatically. If you don't want to listen to it, you don't have to. For now, do listen to this song! I've been listening to it over and over.

A Pretty and Child Friendly Home.

I've been so busy, I don't really have a "Dream Home" for the week. But, this morning I did find a very charming house; I wanted to share. It achieves the illusive combination of "child friendly" and "attractive"...not easy. I like this home because it is good looking and fun. Personally, I think a home with kids should provoke their imaginations. Why should kids have to grow up in boring stuffy homes? I also don't like, when kids aren't allowed to touch or sit on a lot of the furniture. Kids need their homes to be their refuge just as much as adults do, (just my personal opinion).

I'm not a "Pink" person, but I LOVE this kitchen! Its so fresh. The muted gray cabinets balance out the pink, and keeps it from feeling juvenile. One of the best details is the chalkboard paint on the cabinets. Maybe if I had chalkboard paint, I would have less problems with my little artist?

Nothin' Else Like It.

It seems just like yesterday, that we brought a tiny little guy home. He was so small, that the infant size car seat swallowed him up. All of the little socks, I swore would be too small, kept falling off because his legs were too skinny.
I still have a hard time believing that I am a "Mom"! Its strange because I think of myself as a kid still (although, I am not). Being a mom is the most challenging job I've ever had, and I'm sure other mom's would agree. Losing sleep, constant cleaning, wiping, crying....shall I go on?

Something that I find so funny is, that whenever I feel very tired of being "mommy"; something special happens that tells me why its all worth it. Everyday, Liam is getting bigger and more independent. He can be more defiant, but he can be sweeter and more loving. This morning he ran in shouting "Happy Mother's day!" It was so special to hear those words from him. These pictures are from a couple of weeks ago. We were outside, and he was running around. At some point he came running and said, " I have a flower for you, I have a flower for you!"
I think these are some of the prettiest flowers I have ever seen.


I would like to say "Happy Mothers' Day" to all the hard-working Mom's and to my Mom, who is too far away for us to see today. I pray all of you will have a wonderful day, and that God bless you and your families.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

My Own Little Brocante.

Okay, this is not technically the correct phrase; but "Brocante" is a new word to me. (Roving flea markets). Well, I don't have a traveling flea market, but I am in the process of setting up shop to display all I collect. I guess my passion for collecting objects, is not something I talk about very often...or is it? Regardless, I do love it and I have dreamed of selling my little treasures for many years. A few years ago, I tried my hand at owning a small boutique. It was exciting, but for many reasons; did not work out as I had hoped. I have to admit, that I was quite disillusioned when my little store didn't survive. Afterwards, I guess you can say I was depressed and essentially went into hiding. You know, dreams are a funny thing. Just because you try to put them away or ignore them, they never really go away. Even though, I tried to convince myself that I just needed to forget my dreams; I never could.


So, I am going back in, just taking a different approach. I am setting up shop at an antique store in The Heights. This approach works for me because I don't have to be there all time. I have so many other things on my plate; I can't spend the time a store requires. This is why my blogging has been a bit slowerlately. I've been a bit busy! I don't have pictures of my stuff yet (because I always like things to be just so...) but I am working very hard and should have pictures soon. I hope I haven't been babbling.
In the meantime here are pics of an amazing Parisian flea market. Oh, I dream of seeing one of the flea markets some day. I can only imagine the amazing treasures that one could find. Read more about this market at Apartment Therapy.

I would also like to apologize for being slow in responding to comments. I appreciate everyone taking time to share your thoughts with me. I really don't mean to ignore you guys. I hope to be back on track some time next week :)

My Kind of Backyard Hangout.

I noticed a lot of articles about outdoor rooms. I really love this idea, and here is my pick for an outdoor room. This is a prefab building called KitHaus from Design Within Reach. It measures 9'x13', and is insulated and pre-wired. My only question is, will I ever want to leave this cool space?

Feliz Cinco de Mayo

What kind of a Mexican girl would I be if I didn't point out that today is Cinco de Mayo. The funny thing is that I have always thought of this as an American holiday, because in Mexico it isn't as big of a deal. People there actually celebrate September 16th, because that is Mexico's independence day. Despite that, I do like the extra attention to Mexican heritage on this day. I wanted to share this video of Mexico's all-time biggest icon, Pedro Infante. I grew up watching black and white, Spanish movies with my family, and no other actor/singer was ever as important as Pedro Infante.
The scene depicts a long time Mexican tradition of serenading a lucky girl, while standing outside her window. As a little girl I always dreamed of someone serenading me, but unfortunately; there aren't too many wandering mariachis around :(
