Too Bad.

I was hoping Johnny would win. Have I ever mentioned how much I like this guy?

My Dream Home, This Week: Minimalist Beauty.

This week I am dreaming of this fabulous house in Hamburg. Although, I love many different styles of homes; every house I like has large windows that let in a lot of light. Nothing brings a down a house more than lack of natural light.

The wood paneled ceilings are an unusual detail I really love. My sister used to own a house with this type of detail. Whenever I would stay there, I loved waking up in the morning and seeing the rich wood on the ceiling first thing.

Art Therapy: Mia in the Sky.

I've been feeling a bit stressed and blue. For whatever reason, art has always been soothing to my soul. I love this amazing work by Mia in the Sky. The subjects are simple on the surface, but to me very deep and alluring; in reality. I found this artist on a very cool online portfolio site called Carbonmade.

Blog News:M.A. Belle's Fabrics

I had to share a very juicy piece of info. I'm sure many of you are familiar with the very chic blog, M.A. Belle.
Michelle just wrote about her new fabric company called Rubie Green. She has developed a fun line of eco-friendly fabrics, that is featured in the March issue of Domino!
I love seeing people daring to make their dreams come true.

Congratulations Michelle!

Happy Weekend

Prescription for Bliss: The Dog, the Cat and the Rat
I couldn't resist sharing this wonderful video clip with you...the moral of the story to me is: Why can't we all just be friends. Here's to World Peace!!
This is a video of one of the homeless in Santa Barbara and his pets. They work State Street every week for donations. The animals are pretty well fed and are mellow. They are a family. The man who owns them rigged a harness up for his cat so she wouldn't have to walk so much (like the dog and himself). At some juncture the rat came along, and as no one wanted to eat anyone else, the rat started riding with the cat and, often, on the cat! The dog, will stand all day and let you talk to him and admire him for a few chin scratches. The Mayor of Santa Barbara filmed this clip and sent it out as a Christmas card.

Blogs I Love: The Blog is Found.

I am moving the "Blogs I Love" feature to Fridays, so it can serve as a little bit of weekend reading. I should also say that, although I call it Blogs I love, it should be called, "New blogs I love, because obviously; I also love all the blogs I include on my blog link. This week's blog is called "The Blog is Found". It is a photo blog that shows the work of husband and wife photographers of The Image is Found. The blog includes very creative and fun wedding and children's portraits.
I loved the photos of their office. It has a great loft feel, with the exposed beams and open space. It also has a very bold color palette. I think this proves that art and photography don't have to be displayed on white walls only. Actually, I've always thought that color enhances art.

I included a few more of my favorite photos on my other site.
The Blog is Found is entertaining and charming. I must warn you, be prepared to spend a good deal of time, scrolling through their site!

Fornasetti Carpets

Fornasetti wallpapers are beautiful, well-made and bang on trend. My favorite ‘Tema e Variazioni’ inspired by the enigmatic face of a beautiful woman he came across in an old French magazine.

Piero Fornasetti was born in Milan (1913-1988) and became an eclectic painter, sculptor, interior designer, craftsman, engraver of art books and organizer of international exhibitions and events. Believing strongly in disegnothe practice of sketching and copying – as the legacy of the Italian artistic tradition, his unique style shows a strong sense of irony. He worked independently of the avant-garde and his production of exquisitely made objects, textiles and furniture, some of which are in the V&A Museum, is one of the largest of the 20th century.

Fornasetti's latest collection transfers the work this Milanese artist and interior designer into bold carpets. I love the bold whimsical nature of them.
