My Dream Home, This Week: Appartement Gomez
Hooray, I finally got my pictures up! I was feeling quite frustrated to say the least. Better late than never, I guess.
Well, this week's "Dream Home" is the home of one of my favorite designers, Didier Gomez. He is a Spanish designer who lives in Paris. I don't think Gomez is as widely known in the U.S. as he is in Europe, but you may have not seen some of his product designs for Armani and Gaultier Parfume, and furniture design for Ligne Roset.
I love this apartment because although it is very modern, it has the wonderful feeling of history and wear; that makes European design so special. In the U.S. we usually have to work at faking this kind of age. The color palette is so fresh and lively.
The majority of the house is white with hints of color, but the master bedroom is dark and moody and the dining area is a very fresh and lively green. I love the green in the dining room, I think it would make any meal more appealing. The floor to ceiling bookshelves are a great touch and an interesting idea for anyone living in a small space.
This apartment is so fabulous that even the bluish-purple carpet looks great. I must warn anyone thinking of purchasing such a carpet, please do it with caution:) I feel such a strong connection to the mix of modern furniture, antiques, and organic materials. I could definitely make myself right at home in this place.
